Spam Museum Tour
From summer 2021, a trip from the Twin Cities to Austin, MN to tour the Spam Museum and check out some local lunch options.
We’ll meet at Little Oscar’s Restaurant, leaving there shortly after 9:30am. Plan your timing accordingly if you want to have breakfast there first. Then we’ll take mostly 2-lane roads south about 90 minutes to the Spam Museum in Austin MN.
The museum tour is free, and there are several lunch options nearby, including The B&J Bar, which serves Spam, or the Tender Maid, a 50s institution that serves loose meat burgers and great malts and shakes.
From the Twin Cities, head south on 52 to the Northfield Blvd exit, east to Caneff Road then turn right (south) to Little Oscar’s.
Route
- Start at Little Oscar’s, 23470 Emery Ave, Hampton, MN 55031
- From there we get back to 52 and head south for about a mile, then south on MN 56.
- Follow 56 south for about 70 miles, then go west on hwy 80 into Austin.
- Take exit 180A, Oakland Place, and continue west for 1.5 miles
- Turn right on 8th Street SE, go 0.3 miles
- Turn left on 4th Ave NE, go 0.4 miles
- Turn left onto 1st Street NE and right on 3rd Ave to the Spam Museum.
After the museum, lunch with the group or on your own, and the rest of the day as you like.
